On a snowy and slushy Sunday, dozens of Vernonites trudged over to the Polson Park bandshell, in an effort to show solidarity for the children killed in the Israeli–Palestinian conflict.
The rally was put on by the Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) - Okanagan Chapter, which is an organization of people of all backgrounds who labour for justice and peace in the Middle East.
CJPME members had speeches before a march was held. The group walked from Polson Park down Highway 97, stopping at Mel Arnold’s office and the Vernon Courthouse.
“We will not allow the negative responses to distract us from our focus today,” said a CJPME spokesperson. “We will rise above any negativity and let our signs, flags and presence speak for us.”
The rally and vigil followed a Kelowna event that took place on Saturday, by the same group.
