A two-vehicle collision in West Kelowna sent a car flying into a building.

Witnesses say an SUV hit the back of a car which propelled it into a store front next to Papa John’s on Main Street just before Elliot Road, about 12 p.m.

Emergency crews had to use the jaws of life to cut the roof off of the car and extract the driver.

The driver of the car was taken to the hospital via ambulance.

It’s unclear if the driver of the SUV was injured or if there was anyone in the store at the time of the incident.

Jordan Pearce of Retro Thrift witnessed the accident, which happened across the street from his business.

He heard squealing and immediately called 911.

“I saw the Chevy smash right into the pole,” he said. “The airbags went off and a couple guys went to help him. The car was managed and the doors were caved in.”
