Candidates can announce in The NEWS

Tell us a little about yourself and why you are seeking public office

Those who plan to run for office in the upcoming civic/school board elections are being offered a chance to get the word out through The NEWS.

We are asking people to take the initiative and send us a news release and photo (head and shoulders) announcing your candidacy. We will publish an edited version of your news release (they will be published at less than 200 words) and include your photo.

Candidates should provide contact information and the mug shot should be at least two inches by two inches at 300 dpi. We may be able to take your photo — please call our office for an appointment. Tell us, and our readers, a little about yourself and why you are seeking office. E-mail it all to:

We will publish these announcements in our editions up to, and including, our Oct. 9 paper. The deadline for filing papers for candidates is Oct. 10.

When we have a list of declared candidates, we will send them some questions, which they can answer in their own words. We will present those answers in our editions from Oct. 14-Nov. 13. More details about how that is going to work will come in future editions of The NEWS.
