A bench dedicated to citizen advocate Muriel Franck, originally located north of Penticton City Hall in Gyro Park, is being moved to the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre.
The new location, selected to increase the longevity of the bench, was arrived at following discussions with the original donors and Franck’s family.
“The original location at Gyro Park will continue to commemorative Muriel Franck with a new plaque, decorative bench and bike rack being installed onsite,” said parks supervisor, Todd Whyte.
Franck sat in every council meeting for over 40 years, providing critiques on many decisions that council made. She was also known as the woman that would swim in Okanagan Lake, 365 days of the year.
