Sonia Furstenau of the B.C. Green Party (left), Grace Lore of the B.C. NDP, and B.C. Conservative Tim Thielmann are seeking election in Victoria-Beacon Hill.

The B.C. NDP's Grace Lore has been declared the winner of Victoria-Beacon Hill.

With 16 of 19 polls reporting, preliminary results show Lore with 11,925 votes, followed by B.C. Green Party candidate Sonia Furstenau with 8,528 votes and B.C. Conservative Tim Thielmann with 4,853 votes.

Furstenau, who also leads the B.C. Green Party, just announced her defeat at a press conference in Victoria.

"I'm so proud of the campaign that we ran," she said to a room of supporters.

Furstenau had switched ridings to Victoria - Beacon Hill after previously representing Cowichan Valley.

The Greens will still have at least one sit in the legislature. B.C. Green Party candidate Rob Botterell has won the riding of Saanich North and the Islands, which was previously held by Green MLA Adam Olsen.
