B.C. ELECTION: Education series launched for vote

Seminars, all-candidates meeting part of series

Several Sooke community groups are joining forces to present an educational series on the provincial election.

The 2017 Provincial General Election Information Series is sponsored by the Sooke Region Chamber of Commerce, Sooke Region Museum, Transition Sooke, Sooke Region Tourism Association, and the Sooke Women in Business.

“In preparation for the upcoming election, the chamber felt it important that its members and the community be armed with as much useful information as possible to make an informed decision,” said chamber president Kerry Cavers in a press release.

“Thanks to our partners in the series we are delighted to bring the community three opportunities to get informed.”

Government 101, presented by David Stocks, will be held tonight (April 13) at 7 p.m. at the Sooke Region Museum located at 2070 Phillips Rd. Tea and coffee will be served compliments of the museum. A question and answer period will take place at the end of the presentation.

Your Vote Counts, presented by Elections B.C., takes place April 20 at 7 a.m. at the Sooke Community Hall located at 2037 Shields Rd. Breakfast will be served compliments of Sooke Women in Business. This presentation is open to the public but space is limited. An RSVP through the chamber website is recommended.

The All Candidates Forum for the Langford-Juan de Fuca riding will be held in the ballroom at the Prestige Oceanfront Resort located at 6929 West Coast Rd.,on April 25, from 7 to 9 p.m.
