Two men have pleaded guilty for their role in the 2022 armed robbery of a Port Coquitlam car dealership that set off multiple police chases throughout the Lower Mainland.

Kwabena Bosiako and Omar Demetris admitted in court on March 7 that they were among a group of four masked suspects who stole a vehicle from the Journey Approved dealership at 1881 Lougheed Highway on Nov. 22, 2022. When police arrived around 3:40 p.m. that afternoon, the four suspects allegedly exchanged gunfire with the officers before fleeing the scene.

The suspects then led police on a high-speed chase down the Trans-Canada Highway, before crashing the stolen vehicle near the Kind Edward overpass and IKEA. All four attempted to escape on foot. One car jacked a nearby vehicle and made it to Surrey before they were caught, while a second man was apprehended by police nearby.

Two suspects were never caught, according to an RCMP release at the time.

Demetris pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery and one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Both men are in custody.
