Police say one man was killed and another was injured after they were shot at and crashed their vehicle in a South Vancouver neighbourhood on Friday night (July 26).
The Vancouver Police Department has identified the deceased man as 25-year-old Hitkaran Johal.
Police say Johal and another man were driving through the Sunset neighbourhood just before 9 p.m. on Friday when they were fired at. The two crashed their vehicle into two other cars around East 63rd Avenue and Inverness Street.
Johal was declared dead at the scene while the second man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Shortly after, police were called about a kilometre away to East 63rd Avenue and Prince Edward Street, where a vehicle had been lit on fire. Investigators are working to determine if the fire was connected to the shooting.
VPD says it believes the shooting was targeted and that there is no ongoing risk to the public.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
