Shuswap area roads took another deadly turn when a motor vehicle crash resulted in a fatality.

At 10:20 p.m. on May 11, the Chase RCMP received a report of a single-vehicle collision on Squilax-Anglemont Road in Celista and responded along with BC Emergency Medical Services and the local fire department.

Attending officers determined the vehicle had been heading westbound when it skidded off the road and over an embankment.

“The driver was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced deceased on location,” Const. Sarah Van Wilgenburg said in a May 29 media release, adding there were no other passengers. “A local resident witnessed the collision and provided emergency first aid until first responders arrived.

“Chase RCMP would like to extend condolences to the affected family and friends.”
