The Abbotsford Canucks inaugural Chief Operating Officer is moving on from his role with the club.

The Winnipeg-based True North Sports and Entertainment announced the hiring of Abbotsford COO Rob Mullowney as that organization’s new Senior Vice President, Ticket Sales and Service on Tuesday (March 26).

Mullowney was named the Abbotsford COO on July 19, 2021 and had served in that role ever since.

His new job will see him oversee the ticket sales and service teams of both the NHL’s Winnipeg Jets and the AHL’s Manitoba Moose including membership programs, premium sales, and group sales.

Prior to his role in Abbotsford, Mullowney was previously the Belleville Senators COO and Alternate Governor beginning in Jan. 2017 and also served as the Ottawa Senators Senior Director, Corporate Partnerships starting in May 2019.

Mullowney was also the Vice President, Operations for the AHL’s St. John’s IceCaps from 2011 to Dec. 2016. That five year period saw the team enter the St. John’s market from Manitoba.

In 2013 he was named the league’s Ken Mackenzie Award winner as the AHL’s top marketing executive. He also worked on the sponsorship and marketing teams for the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

His departure comes a few months after Raj Mutti, the team’s inaugural Vice President of Business Operations, left the team in December 2023. He moved on to a role as General Manager and COO position with the Vancouver-based Jericho Tennis Club.

The team will also be losing the services of Jen Graham, the team’s inaugural game presentation manager, who shared that she has accepted a position with Tourism Abbotsford and will be departing at the end of the season.

According to the Abbotsford Canucks job board page, the team is also looking for a director of ticket sales and service and an event operations assistant.
