Surrey Mounties, firefighters and the BC Coroners Service were called to a residential street in East Newton after a deceased man was reportedly found hanging halfway out of a second-storey window of a house in the 7000-block of 150A Street.

This was at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 5.

All the Surrey RCMP would reveal, via email, was that police “attended to a medical call where a male had passed unexpectedly. There was no foul play involved,” and that “the cause of death will be determined by Coroner.”

The Surrey Fire Service Technical Rescue team was called to the scene.

“It sounds like it was an accident,” Assistant Fire Chief Richard Bodnark told the Now-Leader. “A high-angle response was required to extricate the body from the roof of the home. The operation required 10 firetrucks, 19 firefighters and at this point the cause of death is unknown and is under investigation by the RCMP. At this point there’s nothing that we have that indicates anything other than an accidental cause.

“He was on a second-storey, I believe one of those small bathroom windows. It is very sad.”
