Artist releases autobiography with book launch at The Reach

Myrtle Ann-Rempel of Abbotsford has written Brushstrokes of Life

Renowned Abbotsford artist and author Myrtle-Ann Rempel will launch her book Brushstrokes of Life – An Autobiography on Saturday, May 5.

The launch event takes place from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at The Reach Gallery Museum, 32388 Veterans Way.

This is a casual event where you can meet the author, have your book signed and support The Reach while enjoying refreshments.

The Brushstrokes of Life sells for $25 (cash or cheque only, payable to the author), and Rempel, in turn, will donate all of the proceeds from this event to The Reach’s public programming.

Rempel is a world-renowned artist who studied at the University of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford.

She was involved in two major car accidents, and after spending many years in hospitals, often facing death as well as pain and loneliness, she picked up her paintbrushes.

This book is a synopsis of her and her husband’s (and family’s) life, from early childhood to the challenges they faced.

Ed Rempel built a hugely successful business (including Rempel Bros. Concrete) in the years of a pro-union environment.

Both Myrtle-Anne and Ed faced many highs and lows in their lifetimes, and this book will challenge you to overcome your own obstacles.

Rempel has served on the board of the Crystal Gala Foundation, The Reach Gallery Museum and the Federation of Canadian Artists.
