The opportunity to bring the beautiful Rail Trail to canvas is coming for Okanagan residents.

The Rail Trail Plein Air Event will take place on Sunday, June 9, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Presented by the Arts Council of the North Okanagan, artists will start at kilometre zero of the Okanagan Rail Trail, then seek out a spot to paint for the day.

The free event is open to all ages and abilities, with prizes to be given out in four groups: experienced artists, emerging artists, youth artists and people’s choice.

Artists are encouraged to bring their own art supplies and materials. Friends of the Okanagan Rail Trail (FORT) Ambassadors will be on the trail in bright green high-visibility vests for any questions.

At the end of the day, artists will gather at Polson Park for music, art jurying and refreshments. Painting deadline is 3 p.m to submit artwork.

Awards will be given out at 3:45 p.m.

You can register ahead here.
