Penticton’s Peach City Radio is celebrating five years on the FM dial this weekend and the community is invited to come out and join the party.

CFUZ 92.9 FM is hosting a fundraiser event at the Cannery Trade Centre on Saturday, Feb. 3, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Volunteers will be running a live broadcast and accepting donations in support of the station during this time.

“Over the last five years, CFUZ has evolved into a thriving 24/7 FM station, providing space for music, spoken word, and information through the dedicated voices of our volunteer program hosts,” said Claire Thompson, president of Peach City Radio. “The station’s strong foundation is a testament to the unwavering support from local volunteers and listeners.”

The station can be heard on the FM dial from Peachland to Oliver.

Funds raised this weekend will go toward the station’s efforts to enhance programming, upgrade technology, and “further strengthen its role as a community-builder,” representatives from 92.9 said. In the past, around $15,000 has been collected during the station’s anniversary broadcast.

The station’s door will also be open to the public and volunteers will be on hand to receive in-person donations and offer tours of the expanding station space, which includes two sound studios.
