An early Christmas surprise, with some extra holiday cheer, was recently brought to one Penticton family in need.
For the second year in a row, the owner of a local video game shop partnered with the South Okanagan Women In Need Society in gifting a Nintendo Switch to one family.
Trevor Sparreboom, owner of Game Cave on Main Street, says SOWINS was instrumental in finding a local family that could truly use all the gifts his store wanted to give away.
Along with the Nintendo console, Game Cave helped donate Switch controllers and a couple of games for the family.
“The economy is tough for folks right now, and 2023 has hit a lot of people hard,” Sparreboom began. “Like last year, we have teamed up with SOWINS who have paired us with a local family who are in need of a little extra help this Christmas.”
Sparreboom later said that this year has been particularly difficult and that he is grateful SOWINS helped find a family in need for the giveaway.
“We are happy to give back to the community when we can,” he added.
The store’s owner has gifted a game console and other gifts since 2020.
Last December marked the first in which SOWINS got involved with the holiday-themed campaign.
